I really like MainWP, the first management tool in my experience which is stable and has loads of features.
MainWP is a tool I’m using right now to manage a number of WordPress websites through one central dashboard. Through the control panel I can quickly mange the plugins and themes on each of the sites I control, in one central location.
This saves me a lot of time and effort, preventing me from having to log into the individual sites one at a time and carry out the necessary tasks. It also helps with website security as I’m more likely to keep the WordPress software and installed plugins and themes up to date as it’s much easier this way, compared to if I was doing it all manually.
While the service isn’t quite as slick as some of its rivals, such as ManageWP, the fact that the core service is free can’t be overlooked. As the service is self-hosted, rather than being managed by a third party, you tend to feel more in control over the management of your sites, rather than entrusting someone else with your login credentials.
It’s worth noting that there are a number of premium extensions for MainWP. So if you are comparing the various WordPress multi-site management tools on price, make sure you check out the prices of those extensions to get a true sense of the cost of using MainWP.
There are some useful free extensions though, such as a site security tool and an uptime monitor. However, most users will want to take advantage of some of the premium extensions including the site cloning tool, the code snippets add-ons, and the remote backups option, to name just a few.
If you have more than one WordPress website then MainWP is easy to use and could save you a lot of time managing those websites.
