Making it easy to submit content to WPscoop is a process we feel should be a simple affair and be carried out with as few actions as possible. With this in mind we have recently updated our Browser Bookmark Submission Tool to insert the URL, Title and a Selected description of the content you are submitting automatically into the WPscoop Submit form. Continue reading for a short tutorial.

The first step is to install the Browser Submit Button in FireFox, InternetExplorer, Opera or Safari, the button can be found here WPscoop Browser Submit Button.

Internet Explorer: Rightclick the link and choose “Add to favorites”.
Firefox: Drag the link to your Bookmarks Toolbar.
Opera: Rightclick the link and choose “Bookmark Link”.

How To Submit Content Using The WPscoop Browser Submit Button.

The WPscoop for usually appears empty (see image below) with fields that you are required to fill in like Story Title:, Story URL, and Story Description.

After installing the WPscoop Browser Submit Button these fields can be filled in automatically with a single click when browsing the page you would like to submit to WPscoop. First find a page you would like to submit i am going to submit an article from the wonderful hackwordpress.com as an example.

You will notice on the page below i have dragged over and selected the first paragraph as though i am going to copy the text from the article, this selected text will be used to populate the description field of your submitted content, The title and URL fields are also automatically filled in on the submit form.

After selecting my description of the content it’s time to click the The WPscoop Browser Submit Button which you saved earlier, below is an image of the resulting submission from hackwordpress.

As you can see the URL, Title and Description fields have all been automatically populated with the correct information and the description text that you selected, the only steps you are left to do is select a category and add a few tag words.

We hope you like the improvement to the bookmark tool and any feedback please let us know.

    Hi Lyndi,

Glad you like the improvements we have been making to the site and we have been working hard behind the scenes to bring the site up to the standard you see today. Thanks for supporting us and hopefully you gain as much enjoyment out of using the site as we have in creating it, and expect more features and tweaks to come in the future.

  3. Hi Stuart,

Nice job with the site! It looks very nice. I wanted to ask you if you’ve seen a combo of drigg and WP. I’m very familiar with WP, but Drupal is something that I’m learning these days and don’t really want to invest all the time and effort in creating a new blog with that platform.

I’m not sure if there is a way to combined both platforms so that the information can flow effortlessly. I know this is possible with pligg, but I refuse to go that route.

    Regards,

    Hi Augusto,

First off thank you for your kind words about WPscoop, and you just happen to be already be viewing a combo of Drupal and Wordpress here at WPscoop ;)

As for integration of both systems logins etc yes it would seem possible with the help of a drupal module which you can read more about here at WPcandy. One thing i noticed unfortunatley is the modules author blog is messed up and the module download is missing, this may be only temporary but i’m sure you could find this module somewhere else if required.

Drupal is a killer CMS but in my opinion WP is the better system for a blog although many Drupal blog users would disagree with me, but it’s just personal opinion.

Your also mistaken with pligg integrating with wordpress as it doesn’t have a bridge available for any 3rd party integration, pligg integrates with no 3rd party applications and looking at the information currently available in their forums they wouldn’t seem to have any future plans to do so.

  5. Hi Stuart,

Thanks for the information. Yeah, I was wondering if you did that in this site.

Drupal is a good platform, but I really like working with WP for blogging.

I was also under the impression that Pligg was capable to integrate with WP; however, it appears to be a misunderstanding on my end. Drigg seems to be more solid by far.

Again, thanks for sharing. Much appreciated:)
